Advocacy for ALL

Social Butterfly Educational Advocacy's goal is to serve as an additional voice for ALL children, accessing the public or private educational settings.  A child does not need to have a disability to benefit from an advocate. All children deserve an individualized and appropriate educational outcome during their K-12 learning journey.

What makes Social Butterfly different?

I will serve through the lens of a parent, navigating the school system, as well as through the lens of a public education employee. Over the course of my career in public education, I served as a special education paraprofessional in a life skills setting, a special education classroom teacher and high school coach, an instructional and leadership development coach, an ARD facilitator, a district special education administrator, and secondary campus assistant principal. Within all of those roles, I heavily advocated for the needs of the students in the best interest for their educational outcomes while utilizing the supports and services available through the district.

I married my husband, Jason, in 2013. We have two beautiful daughters, Henley (8 years old) and Harlyn (2 years old). Henley was born with a very rare and spontaneous genetic mutation causing her skin to blister and tear with the slightest amount of friction. This condition is known as Epidermolysis Bullosa. Children born with it are often called "Butterfly Children" because their skin is as fragile as butterfly wings. Both girls have brought us tremendous joy and have inspired me to take the step forward into educational advocacy because their educational experiences and needs are going to be pivotal in their development as kind and successful individuals in our society.
